Description

When I am looking at this attempt of using symphonism as a strategy of translating a poem into an audio-visual aria, on the one hand, it is clear to me that there are elements that can be objectively described, on the other hand, the personal intuitive input and rendition of the 4 artists-collaborators added to each of the parts of this experiment a particular aesthetic response, idiosyncratic and subjective in its end form. Certainly, no book on symphonism – especially designed for a wide audience – can settle all the matters raised here. Nor should it. In our constant conversations on symphonism with Sara, Giorgio and John, we all ponder a question of knowledge and expertise, agreeing on one thing: “I wish I knew more about this subject”. This reflects everything we do in a scholarly pursuit; our search never ends. (Marina Kazakova)
